Obstetric violence (OV) refers to abusive and disrespectful practices during childbirth, including unnecessary interventions, neglect, and physical, psychological, and sexual violence. This phenomenon significantly impacts the physical and mental health of women, increasing the risk of post-partum depression and other psychological disorders. Contributing factors include insufficient healthcare resources, inadequate professional training, and institutionalized practices that undermine women’s autonomy. OV is deeply connected to gender inequality, as it often reduces women to mere objects of medical intervention, disregarding their role as active participants in the birthing process. Despite advancements in public policies aimed at humanizing childbirth and protecting women's rights, significant gaps remain. Raising awareness, improving professional training, and implementing respectful care practices are crucial to reducing obstetric violence and enhancing the quality of obstetric care. This study emphasizes the need for a comprehensive approach to eliminate OV, advocating for a cultural shift in healthcare and society to prioritize women's dignity, rights, and well-being during childbirth.
