CONTENÇÃO DE ENCOSTAS:
uma possível solução para evitar tragédias provenientes dos deslizamentos de terra nos centro urbanos

Contenção consiste em reter algo em movimento, logo contenção de encostas é denominada como uma obra para evitar deslizamentos de terra e desmoronamentos, visto que a terra pode sofrer impactos causados por diversos fatores, tais como: chuva concentrada em determinado local e a ausência de vegetação nativa. Esse trabalho visa, por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica, apresentar alguns tipos de contenção e suas vantagens para a sociedade. Com o crescimento urbano impetuoso e as oportunidades oferecidas,a população rural migra para centros urbanos sem um planejamento prévio e consequentemente são empurradas para áreas afastadas, especialmente em morros. Geralmente, essas áreas possuemgrandes riscos de deslizamentos que podem causar mortes e prejuízos materiais. Em suma, a contenção de encostas deve ser adotada como uma forma de prevenir possíveis desastres em locais considerados propensos a futuros deslizamentos, mas também deve haver planejamento urbano aliado ao comprometimento de gestores públicos e privados, assim como dos moradores a fim de evitar que essas áreas cresçam sem o planejamento necessário, por conseguinte causando tragédias maiores.
