ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND ADVENTURE BODY PRACTICES:AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW OF POSSIBLE EXPERIENCES IN THE SCHOOL

Adventure bodily practices (ABP) are closely related to the environment and may bring school Physical Education closer to other curriculum components and contemporary debates on sustainability. This study aimed to analyze, through an integrative literature review, experiences reported in scientific production that articulate Environmental Education (EE) and ABP in school Physical Education. The guiding question was: which experiences and strategies described in the literature relate ABP and EE in the context of school Physical Education? The search was conducted in Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), Sistema de Información Científica Redalyc (Redalyc), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), CAPES Journal Portal, and the Brazilian Portal for Open Access Publications and Scientific Data (OASISBR), considering publications from 2016 to 2025 in Portuguese, English and Spanish. A total of 756 records were identified; after removing duplicates, applying filters and screening titles and abstracts, 38 full texts were assessed, of which 9 composed the review corpus. The findings suggest that ABP may foster student engagement, environmental sensitization and problematization of the human-nature relationship, especially when mediated by intentional pedagogical planning. However, the predominance of qualitative studies, small samples and lack of longitudinal follow-up require caution when interpreting effects on attitudinal change. It is concluded that the integration between EE and ABP represents a promising pedagogical possibility, but it depends on teacher mediation, institutional conditions and further empirical research.
