STUDY OF THE EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PROFILE OF ACQUIRED SYPHILIS IN THE STATE OF PIAUÍ FROM 2019 TO 2024

The present study aimed to analyze the epidemiologicalprofile of acquired syphilis in the state of Piauí, from 2019 to2024, based on data obtained from the Notifiable DiseasesInformation System (SINAN), available through DATASUS. This is an epidemiological, observational, descriptive, andretrospective study with a quantitative approach, which soughtto identify the main sociodemographic characteristics and thetemporal and geographic distribution of reported cases. A reduction in cases was observed in 2020, followed by a progressive increase until 2024. There was a predominanceamong males and a higher occurrence in individuals aged 20 to 39 years. The Meio-Norte macro-region showed the highestconcentration of notifications. The findings suggest anassociation with behavioral factors, inequalities in access tohealthcare services, and possible impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially related to reduced testing andunderreporting. Thus, the need to strengthen epidemiologicalsurveillance, expand early diagnosis, and implement targetedprevention strategies is highlighted.
