BETWEEN RIVERS AND DISTANCES: BARRIERS TO ACCESS TO JUSTICE IN THE STATE OF AMAZONAS

This article analyzes access to justice in the State of Amazonas based on the territorial, social, and institutional particularities that shape the effectiveness of judicial provision in the region. Considering its vast territorial extension, low population density, reliance on river transportation, and socioeconomic inequalities, structural barriers can be identified that hinder the full exercise of this fundamental right. In this context, mobile courts stand out as a relevant mechanism for bringing the Judiciary closer to citizens, contributing to overcoming economic, social, and cultural obstacles, as well as expanding awareness and the enforcement of rights. Furthermore, contemporary initiatives such as the digitalization of the justice system and the implementation of remote service tools represent institutional advances, although they still face practical limitations due to digital exclusion and insufficient infrastructure in remote areas. It is concluded that ensuring effective access to justice in Amazonas requires the adoption of public policies and institutional practices that are territorially adapted, capable of engaging with local realities, and promoting a more inclusive and efficient state action.
