Abstract

Acne scars represent not only an aesthetic condition but also a factor with a significant impact on the quality of life and self-esteem of individuals. Several therapeutic approaches have been proposed for their treatment, highlighting microneedling, a minimally invasive technique that promotes controlled microlesions in the skin, stimulating neocollagenesis and tissue regeneration. Objective: To analyze the effects of microneedling in the treatment of acne scars. Methodology: This is a narrative literature review; the search was conducted in the MEDLINE/PubMed, LILACS, and BIREME databases, including original articles published between 2019 and 2025, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. 58 studies were identified, of which 22 met the eligibility criteria and 10 were selected for final analysis. Results: The results show that microneedling is an effective and safe technique, promoting improvement in skin texture and appearance, as well as reducing the depth of scars. Conclusion: Microneedling shows promising results in the treatment of acne scars, especially when combined with other therapies, although more rigorous methodological studies are still needed to standardize protocols.
