JICOPA GAME CONTROL SYSTEM: DEVELOPMENT AND FUNCTIONAL VALIDATION IN A LOCAL ENVIRONMENT OF A WEB APPLICATION FOR MANAGING INTERCLASS SCHOOL SPORTS EVENTS

Abstract

The Jicopa Game Control System is a web information system developed to replace the spreadsheet-based control of the JiCopa interclass sports event, promoted by Fundação JiCred / CDL in Ji-Paraná, Rondônia, Brazil. The manual model presented critical limitations in auditing, change tracking, and report generation, compromising operational efficiency and data integrity. The solution adopted the Laravel framework (PHP 8.3), Inertia.js as an adapter for React and TypeScript components, Tailwind CSS, and MySQL. Development followed Scrum organized into ten sprints of approximately nine days each, from January to April 2026. The product comprises twenty-three functional requirements across nine groups, including role-based authentication and access control, game scheduling, penalties, near-real-time scoring and ranking, and PDF report generation. Verification combined one hundred and thirteen automated tests with six hundred and fifteen assertions and functional validation in a controlled local environment with anonymized real historical data. An exploratory usability assessment (System Usability Scale) with three physical education teachers yielded a mean score of 64.17, and modeling via the Keystroke-Level Model demonstrated a forty-four percent reduction in the championship cycle time. Evaluation according to ABNT NBR ISO/IEC 25010 confirmed consolidated evidence for functional suitability, performance efficiency, usability, and maintainability. As its main contribution, the work reports an action-research case on the replacement of spreadsheets by an auditable web system for managing interclass school sports events. The identified limitations — scope restricted to functional validation in a local environment and a backup routine not yet implemented — constitute priorities for future work.
