OS IMPACTOS DA MÁ OCLUSÃO NA PERFORMANCE DOS ATLETAS

A odontologia do esporte surge como uma área fundamental para identificar e tratar condições bucais que possam interferir no desempenho, como má oclusão, lesões bucais e disfunções temporomandibulares (DTM). A má oclusão, em particular, é uma condição comum entre atletas, que afeta a respiração, deglutição, aumentando o risco de traumas dentários e para além disso, levando ao desenvolvimento de problemas posturais e de equilíbrio. O presente estudo visa investigar os impactos da má oclusão na performance atlética, buscando compreender se a falta de uma oclusão adequada pode limitar a performance dos esportistas. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida por meio de uma revisão de literatura, com o intuito de explorar as evidências existentes sobre o tema e propor possíveis intervenções que visem melhorar o desempenho atlético de indivíduos com essa condição.
