INTERVENCIONES FARMACÉUTICAS EN LA ADHERENCIA A LA MEDICACIÓN EN PERSONAS MAYORES CON ENFERMEDADES CRÓNICAS: UNA REVISIÓN INTEGRADORA

Introducción: Este estudio tuvo como objetivo sintetizar las intervenciones farmacéuticas utilizadas para mejorar la adherencia al tratamiento en adultos mayores con enfermedades crónicas. Es importante destacar que el envejecimiento conlleva la aparición de enfermedades crónicas, las cuales constituyen uno de los principales factores que contribuyen a la mortalidad y las limitaciones funcionales a nivel mundial, lo que subraya la necesidad de intervenciones farmacéuticas para mejorar la adherencia al tratamiento en esta población. Método: La investigación se desarrolló mediante una revisión bibliográfica integrativa, con un enfoque cualitativo y descriptivo. Se analizaron publicaciones científicas mediante una búsqueda sistemática en las bases de datos LILACS (Literatura Latinoamericana y del Caribe en Ciencias de la Salud), SciELO (Biblioteca Electrónica en Línea) y PubMed (Biblioteca Nacional de Medicina de los Estados Unidos), utilizando las siguientes combinaciones de palabras clave: "adherencia al tratamiento", "enfermedades crónicas", "adultos mayores" y "atención farmacéutica". Estos términos se combinaron mediante el operador booleano AND para delimitar los resultados. Resultados: Se identificó que el papel del farmacéutico es indispensable para mejorar la adherencia al tratamiento farmacológico en pacientes mayores con enfermedades crónicas. Esto se logra mediante el diálogo con el paciente sobre su tratamiento, entrevistas individuales, asesoramiento sobre el uso correcto de los medicamentos y la sugerencia de utilizar pastilleros etiquetados con los días de la semana. Conclusión: Se evidenció que el papel del farmacéutico es esencial para mejorar la adherencia al tratamiento farmacológico en pacientes con enfermedades crónicas.
