CONTAMINANTES EMERGENTES CAFEÍNA E AMOXICILINA NA MICROBACIA DO RIO BRANCO EM BOA VISTA, RORAIMA, EXTREMO NORTE DA AMAZÔNIA

A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo investigar a ocorrência dos contaminantes emergentes cafeína e amoxicilina nas águas superficiais da microbacia do Rio Branco na área adjacente à capital do Estado de Roraima, Boa Vista. Para investigar a ocorrência desses contaminantes emergentes, foram realizadas duas campanhas compreendendo o período seco e chuvoso em sete pontos de coleta, sendo cinco pontos localizados no Rio Branco, um ponto na foz do Igarapé Mirandinha e outro ponto na foz do Igarapé Grande. A detecção e a quantificação dos contaminantes foram realizadas empregando a cromatografia líquida de alta eficiência com detector por absorção de radiação ultravioleta com arranjo de diodos (HPLC-UV-DAD). Os resultados revelaram a presença de cafeína na faixa de 97 a 198 µg L-1 e de amoxicilina na faixa de 69 a 130,4 µg L-1 na microbacia do Rio Branco, sendo a cafeína quantificada com maior frequência. Os resultados indicaram ainda, que os contaminantes foram quantificados em concentrações mais elevadas nos pontos de coleta P1 e P2, que recebem o efluente do sistema de tratamento de esgoto do município e, ponto P5 que recebe por vezes o esgoto bruto originário de uma estação elevatória de esgoto. Esse estudo é pioneiro em Roraima e demonstra que esses pontos são impactados pelo descarte desses e de outros possíveis contaminantes não estudados, sugerindo a necessidade de se investigar esses e outros contaminantes emergentes nos rios e igarapés de Roraima, extremo norte da Amazônia.
