EL ALCOHOL COMO FACTOR QUE REFUERZA EL DESENLANCE SUICIDA EM PERSONAS COM DEPRESSIÓN

Este estudio analiza la compleja relación entre el consumo de alcohol, la depresión y el comportamiento suicida, discutiendo cómo el alcohol puede actuar como refuerzo del desenlace suicida en individuos con trastornos depresivos. Se trata de una investigación de naturaleza bibliográfica, desarrollada mediante una revisión integradora de la literatura, con un enfoque cualitativo y descriptivo. Las búsquedas se realizaron en las bases de datos PubMed y Biblioteca Virtual en Salud (BVS), considerando publicaciones entre 2020 y 2025, utilizando la estrategia PICO para orientar la selección de los estudios. Los resultados revelaron que el alcohol ejerce una influencia directa sobre neurotransmisores como el GABA, la dopamina y la serotonina, lo que compromete la regulación emocional y aumenta la impulsividad. El consumo crónico se asoció con la dependencia, el síndrome de abstinencia y el agravamiento de los síntomas depresivos, mientras que el consumo agudo favoreció la desinhibición y una mayor letalidad en los intentos de suicidio. El análisis también evidenció la participación de factores genéticos y ambientales, como traumas, vulnerabilidad social y predisposiciones hereditarias, que intensifican la relación entre el trastorno por consumo de alcohol (TCA) y la depresión. Se observó además que la comorbilidad entre estas condiciones potencia el riesgo de suicidio, especialmente cuando no hay apoyo psicosocial ni seguimiento multiprofesional. Se concluye que la interacción entre el alcohol, la depresión y el suicidio es multifactorial y requiere un enfoque interdisciplinario que contemple aspectos biológicos, psicológicos y sociales. El estudio refuerza la necesidad de políticas públicas eficaces orientadas a la prevención del abuso del alcohol, la promoción de la salud mental y el fortalecimiento de las redes de apoyo como forma de reducir el riesgo de autolesión.
