Resumo

Este estudo analisa a prevalência e os determinantes da suicidalidade no Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA) a partir de uma perspectiva histórica, cultural e interdisciplinar. Trata-se de um ensaio teórico-crítico sustentado por revisão narrativa sistematizada da literatura, integrando contribuições da sociologia, psicologia, psiquiatria, estudos da deficiência e suicidologia. O intuito do texto consiste em examinar evidências empíricas sobre ideação, planejamento, tentativas e mortalidade por suicídio em pessoas com TEA e desenvolver um modelo interpretativo capaz de articular vulnerabilidades clínicas, experiências psicossociais e condições institucionais associadas a este fenômeno de repercussão trágica na sociedade. A análise indica que, embora a literatura destaque maior prevalência de suicidalidade entre pessoas com TEA em comparação à população geral, a interpretação desse achado não deve ser reduzida a características intrínsecas da nosologia autista. Em vez disso, a suicidalidade emerge da interação entre multimorbidade psiquiátrica, condições subjetivas, experiências de marginalização social, estigma, barreiras institucionais e falta de reconhecimento. Conclui-se destacando o pertencimento social como categoria analítica central para compreender a modulação do risco suicida e que a consolidação de estratégias efetivas de prevenção a este fenômeno exige abordagens intersetoriais que integrem educação inclusiva, cuidado em saúde mental, políticas de redução do estigma e ampliação de oportunidades de participação social para pessoas com TEA.
