SÍNDROME DE DISCONTINUACIÓN DEL INHIBIDOR SELECTIVO DE LA RECAPTACIÓN DE SEROTONINA (ISRS): ESTRATEGIAS PARA EL MANEJO Y LA MINIMIZACIÓN DE LOS SÍNTOMAS: UNA REVISIÓN INTEGRAL

Resumen

La depresión es un trastorno de salud mental de alta prevalencia en todo el mundo y representa un importante desafío para la salud pública en Brasil. El tratamiento suele incluir el uso de inhibidores selectivos de la recaptación de serotonina (ISRS), reconocidos por su eficacia y perfil de seguridad. Sin embargo, la interrupción de estos medicamentos puede desencadenar el síndrome de discontinuación, caracterizado por síntomas físicos y psicológicos cuya intensidad varía según el fármaco, siendo la paroxetina el fármaco más asociado con casos graves debido a su corta vida media. Este estudio analiza el síndrome de discontinuación de los ISRS e identifica estrategias utilizadas para minimizar los síntomas derivados de la abstinencia. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica integradora en las bases de datos SciELO, PubMed y NCBI, incluyendo estudios publicados entre 2020 y 2025, disponibles en texto completo y escritos en portugués, inglés o español. Los resultados muestran que la reducción gradual de la dosis, la educación para la salud y el seguimiento clínico individualizado son las estrategias más efectivas para reducir la aparición e intensidad de los síntomas. Se concluye que la suspensión de los ISRS debe realizarse de forma planificada, progresiva y supervisada para garantizar una mayor seguridad y adherencia del paciente durante el proceso.
